My Torbay - Music

This is an album that weaves a raw tapestry of Torbay’s struggles and dreams, mourning the plight of the homeless and the chaos of local roadworks while raging against environmental scandals and bureaucratic failures. It pulses with a defiant call for renewal, from uncovering Torbay’s hidden historical secrets to a bold vision of bulldozing nostalgia for a futuristic, concrete revolution. Through gritty anthems and haunting ballads, I capture the pain, resilience, and rebellious hope of a town ready to rise from its faded past.

2: Shooting For The Stars

I poured my pain into a raw, unflinching song that confronts the harsh judgment of Torbay’s community, like those on Spotted Torquay, who label me “scum” without knowing my story. It traces my journey from an innocent kid scarred by abuse, through the trauma of military service, to a broken man trapped in addiction, abandoned by the system to self-medicate on the streets. With a desperate plea, I challenge listeners to see my humanity and ask if they’d show sympathy if they understood the uncontrollable horrors that shaped my chaotic life.

Lyrics:

To those of you who call me scum, on places like Spotted Torquay
Think for a minute about my history
I wasn’t always like this, I was just an ordinary kid
Then a dirty man down our street made a dirty girl of me
Buried my pain and suffering, couldn’t make sense of it at all

Then joined the forces as a man where the anger began to swell
Seeing my mates lose life and limb became too much to bear
Trapped inside my poisoned mind with no safe place to go
Ended up in the dragon’s den and found some good friends there

Who’d take me high or keep me low, either way I didn’t wanna know
Neither did the clinics who gave me meth each day
But meth don’t give give you no damn buzz or take me away from me
It just keeps the wolves from the door but they return hungrier each time

I’m lost, in pain, self-medicating, but the council leave me on the street
To live my chaos in front of you all, for the world to see and judge
And judge you do, unforgivingly, unaware of my history

Would you have more sympathy if you knew I couldn’t help what happened to me?
Would you have more sympathy if you knew I couldn’t help what happened to me?

3: Torbay's Echo

Here's a haunting yet hopeful song that weaves a tale of Torbay’s hidden past, where the sea whispers secrets and Ania’s vision joins Kit’s dreams to uncover truths buried by the Deep State. It follows Jono’s fight for justice, blending Victorian echoes with a futuristic call to break free from circumstance and revive an aging town. With soaring resolve, I sing of Torbay’s rebirth, a legacy of hope and light rising from its storied streets to shine forever young.

Lyrics:

In the heart of old Torbay,
Where the sea meets the shore,
Lies a secret from the past,
A mystery to explore.

Oh, Torbay's echo, through the ages it calls,
From Victorian streets to the stars above,
Ania's vision, Kit's dream in the night,
Together we'll rise, we'll bring back the light.

A light from the sky, a truth long concealed,
The Deep State's silence, now to be revealed.
Jono's fight for justice, in the political fray,
Against all odds, they'll find their way.

Oh, Torbay's echo, through the ages it calls,
From Victorian streets to the stars above,
Ania's vision, Kit's dream in the night,
Together we'll rise, we'll bring back the light.

Through time's relentless dance,
We'll break the chains of circumstance.
With the wisdom of the past,
We'll build a future vast.

An aging town, its youth long gone,
But hope returns with the dawn.
A story of rebirth, of change and might,
Torbay reborn in the light.

Oh, Torbay's echo, through the ages it calls,
From Victorian streets to the stars above,
Ania's vision, Kit's dream in the night,
Together we'll rise, we'll bring back the light.

So let the echo ring, let the truth be sung,
Torbay's legacy, forever young.
In the heart of old Torbay,
We'll find our way.

4: Cleaning Up!
I poured my outrage into a fiery protest anthem that backs Mr. H’s fight against the scandal of polluted rivers and seas in Torbay, where 149 sewage discharges trash eight beaches while greedy suppliers rake in profits. It slams the empty promises and cracked pipes of a broken system, rallying with the people’s green against the yellow and blue of those who let our shores rot. With a fierce beat, I cheer Mr. H’s cause, urging defiance to break the corrupt laws and demand a pristine Torbay.

Lyrics:

Eight and one-four-nine, ya better pay attention!
Mr. H's callin' out the scandal, raising dissension!
Our rivers and seas are gettin' trashed,
While they just make empty promises, talkin' trash!
He's demandin' action, but they couldn't care less,
The dirty heist keeps rollin', what a friggin' mess!
They're linin' their pockets with profits galore,
While pipes crack and burst, and we pay more and more!
One-four-nine discharges of raw filthy shit!
Eight beaches across the bay, an environmental hit!
Protestors take a stand to keep our shores pristine,
Yellow versus blue versus the people's green!
Our rivers and seas are gettin' trashed,
While they just make empty promises, talkin' trash!
But the winners laugh it up, suppliers gettin' paid,
Record profits year after year, while we get played!
Keep fightn' Mr. H, you're fightin' a great cause,
This whole system's busted, time to break the laws!

5: Windy Corner Blues (Karen's Lament)

I poured my frustration and heartache into a soulful blues tune about being stuck in Torbay’s Windy Corner traffic, unable to reach my love, Karen, waiting in Brixham. The song captures the agony of endless roadworks, with crawling cars and fading phone calls testing our romance as weeks drag into months. It’s a lament for love held hostage by Torbay Council’s chaotic plans, singing the Windy Corner Blues with a longing to break free and hold Karen again.

Lyrics:

Windy Corner's got me stuck, can't get to my girl
Karen's waiting in Brixham, my head's in a whirl
An hour to drive a mile, this love's put to the test
Torbay Council's roadworks, got my heart in distress
Oh, Windy Corner Blues
Got me singing the Windy Corner Blues
Can't reach my Karen's arms
Lord, I've got the Windy Corner Blues
Text message from my love, "Where are you, my dear?"
I'm trapped in this traffic, wish I could disappear
Bus is late, car won't move, bike's no use at all
Karen's voice fading away with every missed call
From Paignton to Brixham, our love's put on hold
This roadwork's disaster, it's getting mighty old
I'd swim across the bay, if I thought I could make it
But Windy Corner's got me, and I just can't shake it
Karen's patience wearing thin, as weeks turn to months
Christmas feels so far away, when you're stuck in this rut
Will our love survive this test, of Torbay's grand plan?
Or will Windy Corner be, where our romance ran?
Oh, Karen, my Karen
These roadworks got me singing the blues
Windy Corner's keeping us apart
Got nothing but this traffic jam to lose

6: Shadows of Torbay

I crafted a haunting, mystical song that delves into Torbay’s hidden history, where whispers of the past and shadowy secrets linger beneath the starlit sky. It follows a group using technology to unravel tales of watchers and eternal mysteries, dancing fearlessly with the echoes of time to uncover the truth. With each note, I sing of leaping through Torbay’s enigmatic night, lifting the veil to reveal a story of wonder and light.

Lyrics:

In the heart of Torbay, where history whispers,
Secrets lie beneath, in shadows, they linger.
With every step I take, the past comes alive,
A mystery unfolds, under stars in the night sky.
Shadows of Torbay, secrets we unveil,
Echoes of the past, through time we'll sail.
In the light of the moon, the truth will come clear,
We'll dance with the shadows, with no fear.
The sea has its tales, the sky holds its light,
A group in the dark, watching over the night.
With tech as our guide, we'll uncover the truth,
Of the watchers, the hidden, the eternal youth.
Through tunnels and whispers, through lights in the sky,
A story of secrets, of wonder, of why.
With each note we play, with each tune we sing,
We'll lift the veil, let the truth begin.
Shadows of Torbay, secrets we unveil,
Echoes of the past, through time we'll sail.
In the light of the moon, the truth will come clear,
We'll dance with the shadows, with no fear.
So here in Torbay, where secrets are kept,
We'll weave through the shadows, with each step we've leapt.
In the heart of the night, under the stars so bright,
We'll uncover the truth, in Torbay's light.

7: Our Revolution Has Begun

I wrote a bold, rebellious anthem that captures the restless drive to shatter Torbay’s faded nostalgia, from Torquay’s yellowed postcards to Paignton’s creaking pier, demanding a break from the past. It’s a call for a concrete revolution, where Generation Z bulldozes crumbling Victorian dreams and donkey rides to build a futuristic bay with towering ambition on shifting sands. With fierce energy, I declare the old guard’s time is up, ushering in a new century with unapologetic vision and no room for seaside delusions.

Lyrics:

Torquay's postcards faded yellow
(faded, faded)
Paignton's pier is creaking slow
(slow, slow)
Nostalgia's chains, we'll break 'em all
It's time for the old guard to fall
Tear it down, build it up
New century, needs new blood
Concrete revolution
No more seaside delusion
We're the future, we've just begun
Victorian villas, crumbling dreams
This ain't the coast it used to be
No more donkey rides or cream teas
We'll have a new future, just you see.
Out with the old, in with the new
Bulldoze the past, that's what we'll do
Little room for history in our plans
We're building towers on shifting sands
Generation Z won't reminisce
About a world that's long gone
(long gone, create the future)
So bring the wrecking ball around
We'll flatten these godforsaken towns
Welcome to the brand new bay
Concrete revolution!
